IN a match that was as chaotic as it was captivating, N’ombeyaora triumphed over FC Oden with a 2-1 victory at Chinhoyi Stadium on Wednesday amid swirling controversies and peculiar incidents.
The game took a bizarre turn just before halftime when referee Stephen Johns halted play due to a swarm of bees invading the pitch.
This unusual interruption sparked discussions among fans and players alike, many speculating it was a sign of “juju” — an alleged form of black magic thought to influence the outcome of matches.
N’ombeyaora’s troubles off the pitch were also notable, as the team faced scrutiny for entering the field through an unauthorised entry point, an incident that could lead to fines.
The deadlock was broken shortly after halftime when Tapiwa Chibunyu netted the opener for N’ombeyaora in the 48th minute.
FC Oden managed to equalise in the 61st minute through substitute Rivaldo Ngirazi, who converted a controversial penalty.
However, the visitors had the final say as Russell Chifura scored in added time, sealing a dramatic win.
N’ombeyaora coach Nesbert Saruchera was in high spirits post-match, declaring his team “unstoppable” as they look ahead to a crucial home fixture against second-placed Agama FC tomorrow.
