Dynamos at it again

Just a week after being told not to use striker Cuthberth Malajila, Dynamos have named the player in their 18-man squad which leaves today for Tunisia to play Esperance in their second Caf Orange Champions League mini-league match.

The Harare giants have gone even further to name Hwange player Farai Vimisayi in the same team despite not reaching a deal with the coal-miners.

Chapungu withdrew Malajila’s services after Dynamos failed to pay the loan fee they were demanding. Dynamos also defied a directive from Chapungu not to field the player when they included him in their Champions League opening game with TP Mazembe a fortnight ago.

“As far as we are concerned, Dynamos will not travel with Malajila because he is not their player. Malajila ceased to be a Dynamos player on July 2 and it was mischievous of them to field him when they played TP Mazembe two weeks ago and we have made a complaint to both Zifa and the PSL about the issue.

“We hope Zifa and PSL, who are the custodians of local football, will let the laws of football to take course because Dynamos cannot be left to do what they want all the time . It will in the future give our local football a bad image,” said Nesbert Chasakara, the director of sport at the Air Force of Zimbabwe, the employers of Malajila.

Hwange were equally fuming: “It’s actually news to me that he will be travelling with Dynamos because as far as we are concerned, they haven’t paid even a cent for him and we are definitely going to take action against that move,” said Hwange spokesman Burzil Dube. Malajila is on record saying he only wants to play for Dynamos as it increases his chances of playing for the national team and securing an overseas deal. Dynamos are set leave the country at midday today via South Africa with a 28 member delegation in a grueling journey that will take them through Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, Dubai and finally to Tunisia.

Dynamos coach Elvis Chiweshe as they had chosen to retain the bulk of the players who have Champions League experience with the exception of Murape Murape who will miss the trip because of some problems with his travel documents.

Veteran midfielder Desmond Maringwa is set to play a vital role in Dynamos’ midfield after recovering from a knock that made him miss out Sunday’s loss to Motor Action in the league.

Benjamin Marere who scored the winner in 2008 against Etoile du Sahel in Tunisia is also part of the side that will travel to Tunisia while Evans Gwekwerere and Malajila will be tasked with finding the goals in the hostile North African nation.

Said Chiweshe: “A lot of people said Spain would not win the World Cup after they lost their first match to lowly ranked Switzerland but they proved everyone wrong by rising from the ashes to win the World Cup.

“That is the same situation that we find ourselves in at the moment but need the support of all stakeholders because this is no longer a Dynamos cause. Instead the whole football fraternity should come to our aid,” said Chiweshe.

Esperance beat Entente Setif of Algeria 1-0 in their own backyard in their first mini league game, while Dynamos lost 2-0 to TP Mazembe.

Dynamos squad: Washington Arubi, Tichaona Diya, Tafadzwa Maingire, Evans Gwekwerere, Desmond Maringwa, David Kutyauripo, Milton Makopa, Thabani Kamusoko, Ashley Rambanapasi, George Magariro Khumbulani Banda, Guthrie Zhokinyu, Benjamin Marere, Wonder Sithole, Farayi Vimisayi, Isaac Pitamuja, Desmond Maringwa, Cuthbert Malajila.

I think Malajila is being used as a commodity by Chapungu and why does this always come out when Dynamos is going out to play in the Champions league and not on local games it means Chapungu are abusing this young man. Is he their slave, or property? Malajila himself must just tell Chapungu to go hang. It appears they want Dynamos to pay yet they just pick him as they want sending him here and there for trials.

The Malajila issue is a non issue, Chapungu must come clean an say how much they have received in total thus far for Malajila, they must not try to confuse the people. They have been paid a lot of money for Malajila's services and they are extorting a fellow local team with a ridiculous and unrealistic loan fee. Let them say how much they have been paid in total and lets see if they will still be shouting from rooftops.
