GOLDEN Eagles head coach Arthur Gorejena is confident that his team can cause an upset against log leaders N’ombeyawora in a Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) Division One match scheduled for the Heart Stadium today.
Gorejena, a former protégé of N’ombeyawora head coach Nesbert “Yabo” Saruchera, believes his team has the momentum to take on the best.
“I’d like to commend the opposing team on their current lead. At Golden Eagles, we’re excited to be having one of our best seasons since joining the NRSL, building on the 62 points we amassed last year.
“We’re focused on our game plan, working towards our goal, and targeting more points in the last five games to make history and become the best version of ourselves,” he told NewsDay Sport.
“Personally, I’d like to acknowledge my respect for coach Nesbert Saruchera, with whom I have a past professional connection.
“However, integrity, fair play and professionalism will be the key factors guiding us ahead of this game.
“We’re grateful for our fans’ energy and support, and we can’t wait to have them behind us in the stadium.”
Gorejena has managed 10 wins, five draws and two defeats in the 17 games since taking over as Golden Eagles head coach.

“We’re focused on executing our game plan and taking it one match at a time.
“We know N’ombeyawora will be a tough opponent, but we’re ready for the challenge,” he said.
The match is set to kick off at 3pm, with Golden Eagles looking to make a statement in their bid to climb the log standings.
Gorejena’s experience under Saruchera as they guided Flame Lily into Premiership football has given him valuable insight into his opponent’s tactics.
“Yabo is a top coach, and I’ve learned a lot from him. I had the opportunity to work with him in 2014 when Flame Lily was promoted to the Premier Soccer League as part of the backroom staff in Division 1 and PSL [Premier Soccer League] in 2015,” Gorejena added.
“This experience not only deepened my understanding of the sport, but also gave me valuable insights into coach Saruchera’s coaching philosophy.
“We are a different team now, and we’ll be focusing on our strengths and playing to win.”
The match promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams looking to make a statement.
