Suspect linked to Kruger tourists murder arrested in Zimbabwe

Local News

The third suspect linked to the murder of two tourists inside South Africa's renowned Kruger National Park has been arrested in Zimbabwe following a cross-border operation involving security agencies  from three countries.

According to Gonarezhou Conservation Trust, the suspect was arrested on June 12 at Malipati following a combined operation involving security agencies from Zimbabwe, South Africa and Mozambique.

"We are proud of the role our team played in locating and effecting the arrest of the suspect alongside the Zimbabwe Republic Police. The successful arrest demonstrates the effectiveness of the cross-border response aided immensely by the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area structures," the Gonarezhou Conservation Trust said in a statement.

The two tourists, members of the Marais family, were killed in an incident inside Kruger National Park earlier this year.

Authorities have not yet disclosed when the suspect will be extradited to South Africa for trial.
