Eight Taekwondo fighters from Bulawayo are up for selection to represent the country at the Confederation of the Southern African Taekwondo Association (Cosata) competition that will be staged in Mozambique next month.
The trials for the final team will be conducted in Gweru on Saturday for the competition that has been set for February 8.
Simbarashe Maruta, Busani Moyo, Noel Moyo, Brighton Sibanda, Neil Nzwenga, Neveil Bhunu, Vusumuzi Ncube and Brain Nduna will do battle against other fighters from around the country.
Matabeleland Taekwondo chief instructor Ricky Tembo said: “The fighters are committed and some of them have the experience. Bhunu has been training with the national team for two years.”
He also said Ncube and Nduna were likely to make the grade. Tembo said they were expecting the competition to be very tough.
