The return of Sanii

Urban groover and music producer Lungisani Makhalima has in one long stride produced a new album and set base permanently in Harare after a long stint in South Africa where he had been working after completing his studies at Cape Town University.
Makhalima – known as Sanii in music circles – studied Human Resources Management and graduated in 2005.
After a brief stint down South he has found the temptation of coming back home too hard to resist. His return might add another dimension to that music genre.
His latest album is aptly titled Urban Renewal and he has described it as “the rebirth of urban music”.
Having perhaps found himself a stranger in a full time formal profession, he has decided to follow his heart and fulfil his dream in music.
The album goes a step higher than the level of his last effort Walala Wasala which has the hit single Vulela.
In the past Sanii produced music that found a ready audience wich sang along lyrics in songs such as Usadaro and Ndofefeterwa. His effort with songbird Tererai Mugwadi, Pauri Ndaperera also found a mark with listeners. Sanii believes his interaction with South African musicians would add value to the new chapter in his music career.
“I featured on one of South Africa’s popular rappers ‘Zubz’ and I believe my experience there has taken me to another level as it has developed my career,” he said.
He acquired state-of-the-art studio equipment during his stay in South Africa and he seems to be following in the footsteps of his elder brother Delani Makhalima, a renowned producer now based in South Africa.
“I have not done away with my education as I’m currently studying for a Masters in Business Administration with the National University of Science and Technology,” said Makhalima.
