Chaos at PM’s Office

-

Internecine fights within the rank and file of the MDC-T continues unabated amid reports yesterday that more senior officials in the Prime Minister (PM)’s Office could face the chop while others from various structures at the party headquarters are on the verge of losing their jobs.
Information at hand shows that the situation has become so untenable that staff at Harvest House, the party headquarters, is now uncertain of their future while others at the premier’s office face imminent reshuffling.
Some senior staffers at the PM’s office and also at the party, have reportedly left, a situation that has created discord between PM Morgan Tsvangirai’s advisers at Munhumutapa Building and his ‘handlers.’
But party officials last night remained steadfast, refuting the allegations as a typical smoke without fire affair.
James Maridadi, the PM’s spokesperson who is at the centre of rumours swirling that he has been dismissed angrily refuted claims he had been fired as “absolute nonsense.”
Ian Makone, the Prime Minister’s chief secretary, said he was surprised that such rumours continued to do the rounds even as the people that had allegedly been moved remained in office. “There are no changes that I know of that have taken place or are about to take place at the PM’s office,” Makone said adding “Any changes would be communicated to me by the Prime Minister for effecting but nothing like that has happened. I have no idea where all this information is coming from. The PM who is the only one who has the authority to make any movements has not done so.”
MDC-T spokesperson Nelson Chamisa said he was unaware of any movement of staff at any office.
He refuted weekend media reports attributing him to confirmation of staff movement at the PM’s office as a figment of the media’s imagination.
“I never spoke to any journalist about any such issue,” Chamisa said. “That is absolute nonsense,” Chamisa said. “As far as I am concerned Tamborinyoka is the party’s head of information department. There is no movement taking place at the party and that I can officially tell you as the party’s spokesperson.”
