BULAWAYO Chiefs came from behind to claim victory against visiting Herentals in a dull Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Luveve Stadium in Bulawayo yesterday.
The Students scored first in the 25th minute through Denzel Chimwemwe who took advantage of a defensive blunder by Bulawayo Chiefs before poking the ball past goalkeeper Matripples Muleya.
They defended that goal until the 63rd minute when Chiefs striker Obriel Chirinda equalised with a header from a MacClive Phiri.
Substitute Arthur Musiyiwa then scored the winner in the 80th minute, blasting the ball past goalkeeper Takudzwa Chikosa after he was set up by Chirinda.
Stand-in coach Thulani Sibanda said the team was improving in the absence of senior players.
“We are improving. If you realise, there are players who are not here, some are suspended and others for some other reasons. In the absence of those guys we started playing with two strikers and the boys are slowly coming to it,” Sibanda said.

Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva, for Herentals was disappointed.
“It was a bad day against Chief after taking the lead. Chiefs came strong in the second half and won. They made very good substitutions,” Mutiwekuziva said.
The Ninjas got their first chance in the 10th minute, but Chirinda’s weak effort was safely collected by Herentals goalkeeper Chikosa.
Another opportunity for Chiefs came in the 57th minute with Felix Moyo’s header from a corner-kick cleared off the line.
The two sides clash in the final of the Chibuku Super Cup in a fortnight.
