ZIMBABWE Warriors vice-captain Marshall Munetsi has officially completed a return to French football, after being unveiled yesterday as a Paris FC player.

The 29-year-old midfielder joins the Ligue 1 side on a six-month loan deal from English Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The move marks a strategic return to familiar territory for the midfield powerhouse, who previously spent six successful seasons with Stade de Reims before his £17 million move to England in early 2025.

Under the terms of the agreement, the French side will take full responsibility for Munetsi’s wages for the duration of the loan, which runs until the end of the current campaign.

Despite the move, Munetsi’s long-term future remains tied to Molineux.

He currently has two-and-a-half years remaining on a mega contract believed to be worth around £75 000 per week.

Notably, there is no option to buy included in this loan agreement, as both clubs have decided to assess the situation at the end of the season while Paris FC continue their fight to avoid relegation.

Munetsi’s departure from Wolves comes after a frustrating spell under manager Rob Edwards.

Although he featured 15 times this season — scoring against Burnley in the league and Everton in the Carabao Cup — a recurring calf injury suffered in early December sidelined him for six weeks.

This injury was a significant blow for the player, as it forced the Zimbabwean captain to miss the Afcon finals in Morocco.

Paris FC sporting director Marco Neppe expressed his delight at securing the Zimbabwean’s signature, citing his extensive experience in the French top flight where he previously made nearly 150 appearances.

“We are delighted to welcome Marshall to Paris FC!” he said.

“He is a player with extensive Ligue 1 experience and many qualities both on and off the pitch.

“Marshall is an ideal addition to our team. His personality, positive energy, and attitude will make us better.”

The arrival of the box-to-box workhorse comes at a critical time.

Paris FC are currently in 15th position in Ligue 1 and face a high-stakes encounter away at Nantes tomorrow.

However, the match may come too soon for Munetsi.

Having not played competitive football since December, the technical team led by Stéphane Gilli is likely to ensure he is fully match-fit before throwing him into the heat of the relegation battle.
