ZIMBABWE Women will begin their quest for a historic first appearance at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup when they take part in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2026 in Nepal starting tomorrow.

The competition opens with a group stage, after which the top three teams from each group will progress to the Super Six stage.

At the conclusion of the tournament, the top four teams overall will secure coveted places at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Zimbabwe will be led by veteran batter Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, whose experience will be central to the team’s ambitions as they seek to make history on the global stage.

The squad features a balanced mix of proven performers and rising stars.

Mugeri-Tiripano will lean heavily on the experience of wicketkeeper-batter Modester Mupachikwa, all-rounders Josephine Nkomo and Loreen Tshuma and a pace attack spearheaded by Nomvelo Sibanda and Audrey Mazvishaya.

Emerging talents Kelis Ndhlovu and Beloved Biza also form part of a youthful core expected to play an influential role during the campaign.

Zimbabwe will open their Group B programme tomorrow, January 18, against the Netherlands at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

They will then face Thailand on Tuesday January 20, at the Mulpani International Cricket Ground in Kageshwari-Manohara, before returning to Kirtipur to complete their group fixtures against Scotland on Thursday January 22, and Nepal on Saturday January 24.

With four World Cup places on offer and a maiden qualification firmly in sight, Zimbabwe will be aiming for consistency and composure as they look to take a significant step forward in the country’s women’s cricket journey.
