MUTARE, Jul 9 (NewsDay Live) - A 31-year-old Mutare man has been sentenced to an effective 17-year jail term for raping his four-year-old biological daughter.
The court heard that on April 28，2026, the child, who lives with her maternal grandparents in a neighbouring village, visited her family home and found her father alone. The man called her into his bedroom and raped her, before ordering her to return to her grandparents.
Her mother grew suspicious after noticing the child was struggling to walk. Upon questioning, she established that her daughter had been sexually abused. The matter was reported to police, leading to the man's arrest and subsequent prosecution.
