Singer Xantel's song 'Icebo' soars to success

Xantel also revealed that she was blown away by the music industry's reception of her and her song.

UP-AND-COMING musician Xantel's recently released  song Icebo has taken the music scene by storm, earning her widespread recognition and acclaim.

The singer reflected on the song's overwhelming reception, expressing gratitude and excitement about the future of her music career.

Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, Xantel said she was  grateful for being recognised all over the country.

"Seeing my song climb the radio charts and stay strong for weeks is a dream come true. The support from fans and listeners means everything. I am grateful and humbled,” Xantel said.

"I would say, hearing my song being played at different places in town and hearing it play on the radio while driving, I feet so happy and it's moments like those that make all the hard work worth it.”

She noted that after the release of her debut song, she was engaged for more gigs and interviews, and received a lot of feedback from fans.

"People recognising me on the streets out there and telling me how they really connect with the song...it's surreal. But the best part is connecting with people through my music."

Xantel also revealed that she was blown away by the music industry's reception of her and her song.

“Fellow artistes, producers have shown me love and support and the feedback has been phenomenal. Seeing industry leaders take notice has been a dream come true and it's pushing me to keep creating,” Xantel said.

“Building momentum requires consistency, so I'll keep pushing boundaries and working hard to get better and better. I'm focused on being consistent with creating new music, engaging with my fans, and collaborating with other talented artistes.”

She advised emerging artistes to be authentic, patient and keep pushing and working hard because success and making it in the industry takes time.

"I have been cooking up some new sounds. Let's just say I'm exploring different vibes and themes. I'm excited about a new single that's got a fresh, experimental edge. Stay tuned, it's gonna drop soon! I also have upcoming collaborations with some of the industry heavyweights locally," she wrevealed.

Xantel, born Gugulethu Sibanda, released her debut single last month and it has earned her a spot in radio charts. Icebo is a fusion of Afro-pop and Afro-soul which carries a message of hope and guidance.
