Caps fall to Hwange

Hwange……………..(1) 2
Caps United……….(0) 1

A brace from Gilbert Zulu ensured Hwange collected maximum points in a Premier Soccer League match at the Colliery Stadium on Sunday.

Zulu slotted the ball into the net with clinical precision after Chipangano were awarded a penalty in the first half.

The referee adjudged that Caps United player Edmore Chapfungamoyo had handled in the box.

Zulu then sealed the match for the home side in the 84th minute when he bundled the ball past goalie Edmore Sibanda despite the close attention from Caps defenders.

Edmore Sibanda had appeared to rescue his team after he equalised through a spectacular free kick from the centre circle in the 46th minute.

The match kicked off at a blistering pace with Hwange creating more chances but Simon Njeleza failed to direct the ball into the net after an excellent through pass from Fortune Ncube in the opening 10 minutes.

Gilbert Mapemba almost opened the account for the visitors against the run of play but his menacing shot from the flank was tipped over the bar by Timothy Sibanda.

Caps’ Clive Kawinga had a disallowed “goal” in the 39th minute after he capitalised on the poor defence but the referee thought otherwise.

The second half belonged to the goalkeepers who managed to block dangerous attacks on either side of the pitch.

Edmore Sibanda saved a goal bound Ntokozo Tshuma’s pile–driver while Timothy Sibanda was called to be at his best denying Kawinga in the 75th minute.

Caps midfielder Stephen Alimenda was sent off for insulting the referee.
