MASHONALAND West Provincial Affairs and Devolution minister Marian Chombo yesterday flagged off cyclists as the eighth edition of the Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke kicked off from the Zimplats Metallurgical Complex in Selous.
Officiating as the guest of honour for the third successive year, Chombo praised the event as a true fusion of endurance, community and passion.
“It brings together cyclists from across the nation and beyond, uniting them in purpose and passion. The Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke is more than a race; it is a journey of discovery,” she said.
“As cyclists ride across the breathtaking landscapes of Mashonaland West, from the rolling hills of Selous through the heart of the Great Dyke, they not only showcase their athletic prowess but also highlight the beauty, culture, and economic promise of our province.”
Chombo welcomed the participation of women and children in the tour.
“I am also delighted by the growing participation of our youth, women and community groups.
“Their involvement reflects the inclusive spirit of devolution, where every citizen contributes to the province’s progress through their unique talents and initiatives.
“To our cyclists: as you begin this challenging and rewarding journey, remember that every kilometre you cover tells a story --- a story of determination, teamwork, and service.
