THE Zimbabwe beach volleyball team that will represent the country at the Africa Games, will get into camp today in Mudzi District, Mashonaland East as part of the preparations for the competition set for Congo, Brazzaville from September 4-19.

Zimbabwe Volleyball Association (ZVA) secretary-general Ringisai Mapondera confirmed the camp saying the area has suitable terrain for the sport.
“Our Africa Games beach volleyball team will be going for a full time 10-day camp starting Wednesday (today) in Mudzi District in Mashonaland East as part of training and preparation for the upcoming All-Africa Games. The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee is assisting us in terms of funding the camp,” Mapondera said.
Mapondera is confident the beach volleyball team will do well in Congo.

“Our team has been training in Harare for some time now. The athletes have been coming from home to train with the help of our coach Vengai Nyaude. I believe the team will do well and as an association, we have done our best to make sure the team is ready for the games,” Mapondera said.
The team was scheduled to travel to Mozambique, but could not due to lack of funding.
