The production of the group’s second project came after the Masvingo-based outfit sometime this year received $4 000 courtesy of the Culture Fund of Zimbabwe. David Mubaiwa, who acts as Sabhuku Vharazipi in the series, yesterday confirmed the completion of the project and today’s premiere.
“We completed the production of our second project and the drama is set to premiere on Wednesday (today) at Ster-Kinekor in Harare,” he said. “We are happy that something is coming up and once this is done we will be working on our third project.”
The group’s first drama Sabhuku Vharazipi went viral early this year with the hilarious drama winning the hearts of many.
The drama tells of Sabhuku Vharazipi, a corrupt headman who manipulates the distribution of food and other inputs in his area, to get what he wants, including women. The headman abuses his position to seek sexual favours from women in the village as well as to gain political mileage.
Mubaiwa said Sabhuku Vharazipi Part 2 explores social issues, but refused to shed more light.
“Just like the first drama, this one talks about social issues affecting the rural community, but I cannot shed more on that until the drama is premiered.”
