DJ Tynoe makes steady strides in entertainment industry

UP-AND-COMING disc jockey DJ Tynoe, also known as Ama2k DJ, is steadily growing his brand in Zimbabwe’s entertainment industry after securing regular performances and expanding his presence on digital streaming platforms.

The entertainer, born Tinotenda James Mutsimba, has become a regular performer at Guzzlers on most Saturdays, marking another step in his efforts to establish himself in the country's competitive entertainment sector.

Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, Mutsimba said his journey began at Midlands State University, where he developed his skills through the institution’s campus radio station.

“I was fortunate to be part of the campus radio station,” he said.

“That experience gave me a strong foundation in music programming, audience engagement and understanding the importance of selecting the right music for different listeners.”

His experience at the university equipped him with the professionalism, consistency and confidence needed to build the DJ Tynoe brand.

Mutsimba said breaking into the industry has not been easy, with competition making it difficult for upcoming DJs to gain opportunities.

“One of the biggest challenges has been building visibility and earning opportunities in a highly competitive industry.

“I have learnt that consistency, patience and continuous self-improvement are essential.

“I’ve also realised that building genuine relationships, maintaining professionalism and investing in my craft are just as important as having talent.”

DJ Tynoe said his performances focus on understanding different audiences and adapting his music selection to keep revellers entertained throughout the night.

Looking ahead, Mutsimba said he plans to release more mixtapes, collaborate with other artistes and continue growing the DJ Tynoe brand through online platforms, while working towards performing beyond Zimbabwe.

“My long-term goal is to become one of Zimbabwe’s leading DJs and take the DJ Tynoe brand to regional and international audiences.”
