CELEBRATED singer and cultural ambassador Sharon Ndlovu, affectionately known as Buhle or Ubuhle Wevanhu, is set to headline the Ubuhle Wevanhu Culture and Family Fun Day on Unity Day, December 22 at Sherwood Sports Club in Mabelreign.

The all-day lifestyle and heritage showcase, running from midday into the evening, promises a wholesome family experience anchored in unity, culture and entertainment.

Designed with families in mind, the daytime programme will feature child-friendly activities including jumping castles, quad-bike rides at USD $3 per ride, traditional meals and interactive cultural experiences.

The evening session, starting at 5pm, will come alive with a vibrant live music showcase featuring a diverse line-up of artists.

Expected on stage are Elder Potato, Mitchel Mvundura, Luta King, Nduna and The Ubuntu Classic Band, Ishy X, Empress Helgah, Zivanhaka Mbira and Marimba Band, with Buhle herself closing the night with a live performance.

Speaking ahead of the event, Buhle, who fronts UBuhle Holdings, a cultural and creative initiative, said the fun day is a celebration of togetherness, heritage and family values.

“This event promises to be an unforgettable experience, bringing together families and communities to celebrate the beauty of humanity,” she said.

“We believe events like these are essential for strengthening family units and preserving our cultural heritage.”

She added that the carefully curated line-up reflects the rich diversity of Zimbabwean music, spanning opera-inspired vocals, conscious music and traditional mbira and marimba sounds.

Beyond music, the event will also showcase fine art exhibitions with pieces available for purchase.

Children will enjoy photo opportunities with Mama Christmas, while DJ Destiny keeps the festive atmosphere alive throughout the day.

Revellers are encouraged to attend dressed in their finest traditional attire.

Buhle, a prolific composer and singer, is widely known for songs such as Ngiholo, Arise Africa, Zimbabwe, Mamela, Full of Grace, Musango and No to Drugs.

She also sessions regularly with over five live bands in Harare, performing both original material and popular cover versions.

In partnership with Assfa Academy and Theatre in the Park, Ubuhle Wevanhu aims to spark a ripple effect of community-based cultural events that promote unity, positive living and the preservation of Ubuntu values.

As part of her advocacy work, Buhle will also feature on the upcoming song No to Hard Drugs by Liber & Transit Crew featuring Mono Mukundu, reinforcing messages of positive living and social responsibility.

“We invite everyone to join us in celebrating the beauty of humanity and our rich cultural heritage.

“Let’s come together to make this event a memorable one and set the tone for a festive season filled with love, unity and positivity.”
