A LOCAL make-up artist and two brand influencers from Zimbabwe have been nominated for the prestigious African Social Entertainment Awards (ASEA).

One of the nominees, Audrey Chitewe, nominated for Best Make-up Artist award spoke to NewsDay Life & Style.

“I am super grateful to be nominated and recognised at an international level as this will help my brand in different ways,” said Chitewe.

When asked about what the nomination meant to her, Chitewe replied: “Being nominated has helped me realise that I have supporters behind my brand and would like to continue working hard to ensure that I receive more nominations and God willingly win awards.

“I appreciate being nominated for this award, especially because I have never entered or submitted my work for nominations, fortunately there are some people who nominated me and I am grateful.”

Chitewe was nominated for Women in Business Awards in 2021, which were held in South Africa. As a make-up artist, she has worked with different individuals and prominent Zimbabwean celebrities who include Janet Manyowa, Ammara Brown and Lorraine Guyo.

The certified beautician also explained that “although the ultimate goal is to bring the award home, a nomination is also a win for me”.

Also nominated for ASEA awards is Lorraine Guyo, who has two nominations:  Best Skits and Influencer of the year. As a brand influencer she has been working with big brands such as World Remit, Darling Zimbabwe and Avion. Writing on her Instagram account Guyo said: “Thank you for continuously watching our skits, Marriage diaries, we have been nominated for two categories in the African Social Entertainment Awards.”

She also thanked Peter “Dhewa” Moyo for always making it happen. Apart from being a brand ambassador, Guyo is also the chief executive officer of hair brand called Braid and Weave Nation. She is also an actress.

Yayha Goodvibes has also scooped two nominations in ASEA. The talented radio presenter and brand influencer, born Mitchell Mutongwizo, is a brand influencer for Steers Zimbabwe, NetOne Cellular, Itel Home Zimbabwe and Oraimo Zimbabwe.

The awards will be held on December 3 in South Africa at a venue yet to be announced.
