Angola are expected in the country Friday for the Zone VI gymnastics championships that will run from December 8-12 at Belvedere Technical Teachers College.
Zimbabwe gymnastics is now in the final stages of preparation for the Southern African Championships, re named the Zone VI Championships.
The Zimbabwe Gymnastics Association said in a press release:
“We now have 202 guests taking part in the event coming from five different countries and taking part in all six different disciplines. Including Zimbabwe, this brings the number of competing countries to six, these being Angola, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and South Africa.
“The first of these to arrive will be the Angolans arriving on the 3rd of December (tomorrow) to acclimatise. All teams will be accommodated at Arundel School during the completion and will travel to the competition venue daily.”
The opening ceremony on December 10 at 6.30 pm promises to be a great evening of entertainment for the entire family with an exciting menu of both singing and dancing including performances by Tumbuka Dance Company, Pablo and friends, Ryan Koreya and the Drastic Acrobats.
“The following morning (Saturday 11th December) at 8am we jump straight into competitions starting with the level 5 women’s artistic competition. The programme for the day continues with the rest of women’s artistic competition, the aerobic gymnastics competition and the very strong men’s artistic competition.
“The final day of competition will be on Sunday December 12 and will be a mix of explosive and beautiful gymnastics with the rhythmic , tumbling and trampoline gymnasts taking to the floor to show off their jumping and flexibility abilities
“At present we are in the process of doing refurbishments to the Belvedere Technical Teachers Training gymnasium to have it in a fit shape to house this international competition and new equipment to be used during the Zone VI championships, which was kindly sent from Eurotramp Germany, is on its way across our border via South Africa.
