More than 50 coaches have already been certified through the Level 1 programme, with seven provinces successfully conducting the training.

The Zimbabwe FootGolf Association is set to conduct a Level 2 coaching course on June 20 and 21 at Chaplin High School in Gweru as part of efforts to strengthen the sport's technical capacity across the country.

In an interview with the NewsDay Sport, National Technical Director Juliana Runyararo Chihora said the programme builds on the success of the Level 1 coaching courses that were held at provincial level.

More than 50 coaches have already been certified through the Level 1 programme, with seven provinces successfully conducting the training.

Provinces that did not hold separate courses will be combined under the Matabeleland region.

Chihora said the number of participants for the upcoming Level 2 course is yet to be confirmed.

She noted that the coaching development initiative is crucial in promoting professionalism within FootGolf in Zimbabwe.

"The coaches will be equipped with relevant information, skills and knowledge of the game. This will help them to execute their duties in a professional way," she said.

Chihora added that increasing the number of certified coaches will contribute significantly to the growth of the sport nationwide.

"Having more certified coaches also helps in the growth of the sport as coaches are found in almost every province and in the country's 72 districts," she said.

The association believes that developing qualified coaches will improve standards, expand participation and create a stronger foundation for the continued growth of FootGolf in Zimbabwe.
