Warriors head coach Marian Marinica has quit after eight games, citing personal reasons, the Zimbabwe Football Association announced on Monday.

Romanian Marinica was appointed on November 5 last year on a one-year deal, but has now left his role, with his assistant, Kaitano Tembo, confirmed as his interim replacement.

In a statement, Zimbabwe Football Association said it had accepted Marinica’s resignation and thanked him for his service.

“The association thanks Coach Marinica for his service to the Warriors and wishes him well in his future endeavours,” Zifa said.

Former Warriors defender Kaitano Tembo has been appointed interim head coach for the Warriors’ upcoming Unity Cup campaign in the United Kingdom.

He will be assisted by Takesure Chiragwi.

Marinica’s exit comes as Zimbabwe prepares for key international assignments, with Tembo now tasked with steadying the side while ZIFA considers a permanent appointment.

The Unity Cup will be his first test in charge.
