BULAWAYO, Mar. 13 (NewsDay Live) – Defender Andrew “Kabila” Mbeba has finally put pen to paper with Highlanders after weeks of negotiations that reportedly included the player requesting a house as part of his contract package.
Mbeba has signed a deal that will keep him at Highlanders until December 2028.
The Warriors defender, who was recently named in the senior national team squad for the upcoming four-nations tournament in Botswana, could be part of the Highlanders side that travels to Harare to face Dynamos in their second Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match of the season.
Highlanders confirmed the development on Thursay evening.
“The club is delighted to confirm that defender Andrew Mbeba has officially committed his future to the club, signing a contract renewal that will keep him at the club until December 2028,” the club said in a statement.
On Sunday, when Highlanders drew 1–1 with city neighbours Bulawayo Chiefs in their opening match at Barbourfields Stadium, coach Benjani Mawaruwari indicated that negotiations with the player were progressing well and that Mbeba was close to regaining full fitness.
