THE Harare Volleyball Association (HVA) has called out to all teams that want to participate in the 2026 Harare Premier League Volleyball season to sign up.
The invitation is extended to NASH, ATS, colleges, universities, churches, the community and even private clubs for an elite and highly competitive season.
The season, which is set to commence in mid-March, promises to be action-packed and provide thrilling matches, skill development opportunities and provide a platform for volleyball enthusiasts to come together, compete and showcase their talents.
In an interview with NewsDay Sport, Harare Volleyball Association chairman Clemence Muziva said the league currently has 16 teams — seven for women and nine for men.
“We haven’t set a maximum size,” he said.
“We only have one premier league team and still undersubscribed.”
He highlighted how a raise in the member subscriptions could see an expansion of volleyball in Harare.
“If we get more teams, we hope to have Division 1 in the following year.”
Speaking on why it is beneficial for a team to join the HVA, Muziva said: “It offers several benefits, primarily focused on improving the competitive environment, enhancing player development, increasing exposure and league running cost reduction.”
Every club interested in joining should apply to the secretariat, the application letter accompanied by US$50.
The application should also submit the following pre-requisites: The club’s constitution; the club’s membership registers for all athletes; the club’s technical structure; the club’s executive committee or administrative structure and minutes of the meeting which resolved to join HPVL.
There should also be a declaration that the club is prepared to pay membership and affiliation fees as prescribed by HVA from time to time; a declaration that the club will always comply rules of the game in force; a declaration that the club recognises the Court of Sports Arbitration in Zimbabwe; a declaration that the club will fulfil all HPVL fixtures as well as a declaration that the club will comply with all the statutes, rules, regulations, policies and decisions of HVA.
