It’s the final showdown for Zim Premier Volleyball League

WITH the league hitting its peak, teams and supporters alike are now eyeing the much-coveted championship trophy. 

The championship games for both men and women are looming and are set for this weekend, with the quarter and semi-finals being played tomorrow at the University of Zimbabwe courts.  

On Sunday, action will feature both the men’s and women’s finals as well as the third and fourth place contest to be played on Sunday morning at Sunrise Sports Club.  

Highly favoured to win for the men are UZ Wolves, who throughout the season have maintained a winning streak, with 33 sets won and only six lost in all 11 matches played.  

This earned the Wolves an impressive 32 points, which results in the team qualifying for the finals at the top of the log. 

Additionally, the team has fresh victory to further boost their confidence after being crowned Harare champions last weekend. 

Not to be underrated are the Black Mambas, who stunned other teams in the women’s division, having won all 11 of its matches.  

In addition, both Men’s UZ Wolves and Women’s Black Mambas were incredible earlier this year at the MNL Zim Open Championships, where they clinched the titles in their respective categories. 

In the women’s category, Black Mambas face off against eighth ranked Southern Aces for their quarter final, while in the men’s category, UZ Wolves battle it out with Chimoio. 

Gate fees are, standard entrance US$3 and Premium entrance is US$5, including a year Volleyball TV subscription code. 

The championship games promise to be an electrifying showdown, with teams giving it their all to claim the Premier Volleyball League ahead of the Zone 6 club championship games to be held in Polokwane, South Africa, from December 9-22, 2025.

Women’s category — Harare City v Black Rhinos, UZ Wolves v Vipers, Raven Claw v CUT
