N’ombeyaora face sanctions after coach defies suspension

N’OMBEYAORA is under scrutiny from the league after coach Nesbert Saruchera blatantly ignored his suspension during the recent match against Banket United.

Saruchera had been handed a two-match ban and fined US$5 000 for unruly conduct in a prior encounter with Agama FC at Ellis Robbins.

Despite the ban, Saruchera took his place on the bench as N’ombeyaora secured a 2-0 victory over Banket United on Sunday.

In a display of defiance, he refused to comment to the media post-match and exhibited aggressive behaviour towards reporters.

Banket United chairperson Nelson Nzombe confirmed that a formal complaint had been lodged with the Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) regarding Saruchera’s presence on the bench during his suspension.

“We have officially written to the NRSL about Saruchera violating his suspension by coaching from the bench during our match,” Nzombe stated.

On the pitch, N’ombeyaora and Agama FC remain locked in a tight race at the top of the table, both securing crucial victories over the weekend.

N’ombeyaora overwhelmed Banket United with goals from top scorer Russel Chifura and Lincoln Saramaya, while Agama FC triumphed against Karoi United at Pfura Stadium in Mt Darwin.

As it stands, N’ombeyaora top the table with 66 points from 29 matches, closely followed by Agama FC with 65 points.

Golden Eagles sit in third place with 52 points, still in contention as the season nears its conclusion.

Meanwhile, Chinhoyi Stars continue to struggle, remaining in the relegation zone following a home defeat to Zambezi G & C.

Chegutu Pirates extended their unbeaten streak with a goalless draw against Black Rhinos at Pfupajena Stadium.
