JOHANNESBURG — Former Caps United and Warriors goalkeeper Energy Murambadoro is clubless after being offloaded by South Africa’s Absa Premiership football club Bidvest Wits yesterday.
Rumours of the big goalkeeper’s departure had been abuzz in the last two weeks and his departure with Sipho Mngomezulu was finally confirmed yesterday.
Almost all the players from last season’s squad have been discarded or are leaving the club since the change in management and coaches. Murambadoro and Mngomezulu have been pushed aside along with Derrick Spencer, while Thando Mngomeni also appears to be heading out.
“This is football. Things are quiet, but my agents (Prosport International) are looking for a new team for me,” says Mngomezulu, who captained Wits last season.
“I was told about this last week on Monday. By now clubs have spent their budgets and this is the feedback you get, so it is difficult. Energy (Murambadoro) is another one like me who is out.” Meanwhile, Wits have welcomed Jackson Mabokgwane who is expected to give Emille Baron stiff competition following the release of Murambadoro.
Both Murambadoro and Mngomezulu are no longer training with the club just like Spencer who has been linked with a move to AmaZulu. Youth international midfielder Ebrahim Seedat has been spotted by KickOff.com training as he seeks to win a move back to the country after a spell at Belgian club Loreken.
The revolution at Wits initiated by the arrival of Jose Ferreira as the new CEO has seen Roger de Sa replaced by Antonio Lopez Habas with Thomas Sweswe, Tlou Molekwane, James Mayinga, Aaron Mokoena, Bryce Moon, Mathew Pattison, Tinashe Nengomasha, Ofentse Nato, Paty Faty, Calvin Kadi, Robin Ngalande and Erwin Isaacs all coming in as the new players.
Meanwhile, Matthew Rusike is still to complete his move to Kaizer Chiefs due to problems relating to his release from Jomo Cosmos.

The Siya crew reported in yesterday’s edition of Soccer-Laduma that the 22-year-old had agreed to terms with The Glamour Boys, however it appears that even though a three-year deal has been agreed on, his current club, Jomo Cosmos, are attempting to block the move.
It is believed that Jomo Sono’s side are of the impression that they have got a one year option on the Zimbabwean’s contract, though Chiefs think otherwise, and are looking for around R2 million in compensation for the striker.
With the saga still ongoing, the matter could well end up at the PSL’s Dispute Resolution Chamber as the player attempts to seal his switch to Naturena in the near future.
Fans of the Amakhosi will be eager to see Rusike, who has been training with Chiefs, complete his move to the club after impressing their coach, Stuart Baxter, as they attempt to add to their ranks before the close of the current transfer window.
