Last year’s Castle Lager Premiership Golden Boot winner has netted five times in three matches to lead FC Platinum to the top of the standings heading into week four.

He scored 18 goals in 30 matches last season, four more than 2011 winner Rodreck Mutuma.

He has a scoring rate of 1,67 goals per match with the league still at its infancy.

Mazivisa grabbed a brace at the weekend on Saturday against Black Mambas at Morris Depot as Platinum beat the police side 2-1. The prolific goal-getter had weighed in with another brace when Platinum thrashed How Mine 4-1 at Mandava Stadium on Easter Monday and was on target in the 2-1 first game against Buffaloes in Mutare.

His accuracy in front of goal will certainly give fellow striker Donald Ngoma a headache. Platinum head coach Tennant Chilumba heaped praises on the striker and paid tribute to all the members of the technical team who have been working on the forward.

“Firstly, the training camp in Kariba worked wonders for us in terms of working out combinations, co-ordination and team spirit since we had acquired new players.

“But we are not looking at the first three matches. We have not yet started. Our focus is to get maximum points in every match we play.

For Mazivisa, I will give credit to my fellow coaches. We have been working hard on the strikers, in set-pieces and in crosses.

“Mazivisa has given 100% effort. He is doing fine and he deserves to be on top of the scorer’s charts,” Chilumba said.

Platinum has scored eight goals and conceded three.

Behind them is Highlanders also with nine points after a 100% run in the first three matches with nine points, scoring six times with outstanding goalkeeper Munyaradzi Diya, conceding a single goal while Njabulo “Tshiki” Ncube has two goals to his tally.

Bosso coach Kelvin Kaindu, who received his marching orders in the 2-1 win over Triangle against Gibbo at the weekend, said the three wins were very important for the Bulawayo giants.

“The three wins are very important for us. They give us an advantage. If we look at how we played last year, we have actually started better this year. We have won two matches away from home and we beat stubborn Harare City at home and then Triangle, coming from Division One, were not pushovers. We will just focus on every game as it comes,” Kaindu said.

Another Southern Region side Chicken Inn are on the third spot with seven points from three matches after winning two matches, beating Triangle 2-1 and Triple B at home and holding champions Dynamos to a 1-1 draw in Harare.

Hwange have played two draws, holding Motor Action to a goalless draw in Harare before settling for another 1-1 draw with returnees Black Rhinos at the Colliery and then falling 4-2 to Buffaloes in Mutare on Sunday.

Triangle have lost two times to Chicken Inn and Highlanders and surprised Shabanie Mine with a 3-0 thumping at Gibbo Stadium in their second match.

Things have not been rosy for Shabanie Mine, who have lost their first two matches to Highlanders and Triangle and face champions Dynamos at Maglas tomorrow.

Premiership newcomers Triple B have also been on a bad patch losing all their three matches — 2-0 to How Mine, 1-2 to Black Mambas and 1-0 to Chicken Inn.
