More notes on the Grace of God

Opinion & Analysis

SINCE the birth of the New Testament church there has been both adherence to the truth of the Gospel of Christ and departure from it.

It’s commendable however that with the internet age, it’s now possible to easily access the purity of the undiluted Word of Truth.

Last week, I said that the longer I stay in ministry, the more I painfully see naive Christians abandoning the Grace of God to embrace works and self-effort.

Apostle Paul had to write a whole letter to correct this.

He says in Galatians 3:1, “O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?”

This is the tone of all Pauline teaching.

Believers have to be intentional about their spiritual growth.

They have to hear the voice of God for themselves.

Jesus said in John 10:27, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:”

There are preachers who willingly preach falsehoods for personal gain and those who are just ignorant of the truth.

We don’t take lightly the truth revealed to us.

Jesus is patient and longsuffering so that they repent.

The Bible remains the highest sold and distributed book of all time.

People have it in their houses, offices and gadgets like mobile phones but few know the truth in it.

Jesus rejoiced in knowing the truth, Luke 10:21, “In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.”

We can expound on the original languages of the Bible, Hebrews, Greek and Latin but preaching heresy.

God the Father is a revelation not an interpretation. Let that sink in.

We know Luke 10:22, New King James, “All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.”

Many are preaching God Who they don’t know because they know Jesus Christ.

They don’t know Jesus either because Jesus Christ is known only through and by the Grace of God.

From Apostle Paul’s experience with the Galatian church, we see the need for consistency of theology.

The Gospel that brings salvation should be the one by which we live till the end of the ages.

What’s this Gospel? We quote Galatians 3:2-3, “[2] This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? [3] Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?” \

This is salvation devoid of works.

There’s a lure to add works to the Grace of God.

You were probably taught that as a newly born again believer, God quickly answers your prayers but as you stay longer, you have to do more like fasting to get answers.

That’s ignorance on rampage.

Jesus’ teaching corrects, Matthew 18:3, “And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.”

We don’t mix grace and works but rather stick to the finished or accomplished work of Christ.

This is the Gospel of Christ, the Grace of God, the Glad Tidings of Jesus Christ and His Good News.

That’s the Doctrine of Christ. From salvation to eschatology the Gospel of Christ doesn’t change.

As Apostle Paul said in the verses quoted above, we don’t perfect or polish up the work of redemption or the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus by our works or good deeds.

The Grace of God runs throughout the entire Bible.

We read Ephesians 2:8-9, “[8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Moses lived by grace. Let’s nail it even more. He gave the law to those who requested it. He knew better.

Exodus 33:13, “Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.”

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Grace and peace be multiplied to you through knowledge.
