I am for the law

PROSPER TINGINI

In some my previous articles, I have written and repeated the spoken words of Christ in relation to the law; about God’s commandments. I have termed these words as Jesus’ mission statement. Matthew 5:17-19 reads: “Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven”.

Anyone who calls himself/herself a Christian must abide by this bold “mission statement” of Christ. Judges 2: 10-17 carries a prophecy of a new cult of Christian followers who would come to vociferously preach against the law, contrary to the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Heavenly Father. These sects quote from the very same scriptures in which Christ vehemently speaks in favour of the law. It is written about them; “There arose a new generation that did not know the God that delivered Israel. . . .

They soon turned aside from the way in which their fathers had walked, who had obeyed the commandments of the Lord, and they did not do so.” These rebellious cults now operate in a different way from the way of the Lord our God. They now teach our children that we are now no longer operating under God’s commandments — the law. Which nation, state, society or any cluster of people can live and survive under a system that has no rules and regulations? A dog eat dog environment would render such a lawless entity to be extinct. To then expect the kingdom of our Heavenly Father to operate under lawlessness makes a mockery of our religion.

There is a flagrant misrepresentation of our scriptures, especially with regards to the New Testament letters of St Paul. His letters differed in content in accordance with the dictates of a particular targeted group of people or audience who had no knowledge of God’s commandments. By merely identifying with them, some misguided religious figures have taken some of the contents of St Paul’s letters to mean as if they covered everyone in application, whereas that’s not the case.

This grave misrepresentation of the scriptures has had some grave consequences for both our Christian religion and for humanity in particular. St Paul’s assigned mission was to preach the word of God and Christianity to the gentiles, those not in the knowledge of the law, hence his inclination to sometimes preach gospels which talked of not being under the law. There is no blanket application to those contents of the letters and teachings. That is precisely why his letters were directed at very many different religious groups with different beliefs and backgrounds. Where there is good, there follows evil to try and disrupt the good. Where there is harmony or friendship, an enemy or foe will endeavour to disturb the prevailing peace. Where there is the rule of law, some people would strive to work against the law.

To teach people that we are no longer under the law is in itself working against the teachings of Christ and the Lord our God. In our religious circles, we talk of sin. To sin is to do what is forbidden or to breach a laid down directive from God. In life, to break a law is treated as an offence. The very same Apostle Paul wrote to the Thessalonians 2:v 3-8: “Don’t let any deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. ....and the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendour of his coming”.

The same Apostle Paul qouted to have spoken as if we are no longer under the law also wrote to the Galatians (5:3); “ Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not; for if a law had been given which could make us live, then righteousness would be indeed by the law.” Admittedly, there is this generally adopted view across our Christianity that because Jesus Christ died for our sins as a representation of a sacrificial lamb, it then follows that all our sins of past, preset and of the future are already forgiven. In essence, this would mean we should no longer be unsettled by any of our sins. In removing ourselves from the fear of sin, we thus become a lawless religion.

This is how the ideology that stipulates that we are no longer under the law is promoted. Now enters Satan, the promoter of evil and of all ungodly things. He is in competition with God to recruit followers. He roams the world in search of gullible converts whom he can use in his mission to unseat the Heavenly Father since his revolt against his former master.

Isaiah 14:12-14 speaks of the origin and intentions of Satan; “How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star (Lucifer), son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground you who laid the nations low! You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven above the stars of God; I will build my throne on high altitude; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far north; I will ascend above the height of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High’”. Unbeknown to some of our Christian folks, some sects have been uncunningly recruited by Satan to fulfill his agenda. Unknowingly, they are now being used by Satan to act as his undercover agents in his mission to unseat or be like the Lord our God. In their hearts these lawless ideology sects believe in earnest that they are working for Jesus Christ or for the Lord our God, yet they are being used as disguised Christians to promote satanic ideologies.

Like wolves in sheep’s skins these cults can easily manipulate the scriptures to turn them around to give new meanings contrary to the words of God and of Christ. False teachings and false prophets have arisen to distort the truth and to commission false doctrines that may look good on the surface yet they are satanic in their interior. Some of these doctrines have confused our Christianity, to the detriment of reality and in favour of satanic intentions and principles of working against our Lord. I am for the law. Jesus Christ is for the law. The Lord our God is for the law. Are you for the law?
