Tips On How To Brighten Blonde Hair

Opinion & Analysis
blonde hair

How your hair looks really matters and also gives you power, as it plays an important role in your self-confidence. Maintaining blonde hair bright might be challenging, especially when the hair was bleached blonde and not naturally blonde. It might also be a hustle for the natural blonds since this color is very bright, and it is important to keep it bold and shiny.

If your hair is blonde, it becomes important to maintain your hair care routine to keep it as bright and real as it should be. Dullness is not an option if your hair is blonde, as it will only steal your shine, making it less attractive. Below are tips on how to keep blonde hair bright and real.

  1. Use a Water Filter to Avoid Hard Water

Naturally, hard water is loaded with different minerals and color striping. These minerals are not dangerous to your physical health in general, but they are not friendly when it comes to your hair.

Hard water is hazardous for blonde hair as it can dull the blonde color. To protect your hair from such risk, it is advisable to invest in a shower head filter which is not very expensive, and it is a one-time expenditure.

In the cases where you are traveling or visiting friends and family who may not realize the importance of avoiding hard water, normalize carrying spring water with you to give your hair a final rinse after taking a shower.

  1. Use Shampoo Meant for Your Hair Type

Just like with different hair textures, there are different shampoos for hair with different shades. If you use a shampoo meant for the blonde shade, it will be easier to keep your hair bright and minimize the chance of losing the shine.

There are also shampoos meant to purposely brighten bright shades of hair. You can use the shampoo in the shower to easily brighten your hair on your own. Brightening shampoos remove any sort of dark shade or build-up of dullness on your bright hair.

When washing your blonde hair, you should minimize cleansing to a limit of two to three times every week. Shampoos are good for our hair, but at the same time, they are not the best for daily use. They can remove the natural oils on our scalps and get rid of the pigment of the natural hair.

It is accurate to state that washing your hair more often will make it fade quicker, especially in the case of blonde shade.

  1. Avoid Rinsing Your Hair With Hot Water

If your hair has a blonde shade, you should not use hot water to rinse it off. Hot water not only dries out your skin but also opens the hair cuticles, which causes color fading.

On the other hand, using cold water does magic. Cold water seals the hair cuticles and moisturizes the scalp. This helps preserve the hair color and adds shine to it.

This does not mean you need to use a cold shower every time you need to bathe and wash your hair. If it is possible, you should only use cold water when it is time to rinse off your conditioner.

  1. Use a Moisturizing Conditioner and Hair Masks to Hydrate Your Hair

Just like it is important to hydrate yourself, you should also keep your hair hydrated. This should be done regardless of your hair shade, whether brown, pink, or blue.

If your hair is color treated to blonde, keeping it moisturized is actually a requirement. This is so because hair lightening can be damaging and does a lot of drying on your scalp.

You should use moisturizing conditioner often to strengthen lightened blonde hair and minimize damage in the future.

  1. Avoid Overheating Your Hair

If it is possible, you should take a break from styling your hair using heat. Most heat tools can decrease the lifespan of your hair, no matter what shade it is. if you have to, always blow dry your hair with the cool setting on to minimize heat damage.
