US$1,9m suspected fraudster granted US$300 bail

AN  alleged fraudster yesterday appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court after he allegedly forged documents of a company shareholding in a bid to sell its property valued at US$$1,9 million.

The accused, Brian Ncube, appeared before Harare magistrate Jessie Kufa, who granted him US$300 bail.

The complainant is Youssof Abduraman and the director for Countervest Investments Pvt Ltd.

It is the State’s case that last August, Abduraman, who is the owner of a residential stand along George Walker Drive which he holds under a title deed belonging to Countervest Investments (Pvt) Ltd, came across an advert on social media, in which Ncube and his alleged accomplice, Simbarashe Tamayi, were offering for sale the above property.

The complainant discovered that Ncube forged company documents of Countervest Investments Pvt Ltd and changed his company directorship and shareholding into his and Tamayi’s names and submitted the documents to the Registrar of Companies office.

That caused the complainant to report the matter to the police, leading to the subsequent arrest of the accused.

The complainant suffered a potential prejudice of US$1,9m.
