Mineral exploration has been identified as a critical pillar for the future growth of the country;s mining industry, with industry leaders calling for increased investment to unlock the country's vast untapped mineral potential during Mine Entra 2026.
The annual mining, engineering and transport exhibition is being held at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo under the theme "Unearth, Transform, Prosper: Anchoring Economic Transformation Through Mining Value Chains.”
Zimbabwe Chamber of Mines chief executive, Isaac Kwesu, said sustained exploration is essential for ensuring continued growth of the mining sector.
He said Zimbabwe possesses significant mineral resources that remain largely unexplored, presenting opportunities to attract both local and international investment into the sector.
According to Kwesu, the symposium will bring together policymakers, geologists, financiers and exploration specialists to exchange ideas on improving the country's exploration environment and identifying practical measures to increase exploration funding.
Industry analysts say continuous exploration is vital because existing mines eventually exhaust their mineral reserves.
Discovering new deposits ensures the sustainability of the mining industry, creates employment opportunities and provides raw materials for downstream industries involved in mineral processing and manufacturing.
Greater exploration is also expected to enhance investor confidence by generating reliable geological information that reduces investment risk.
