Zimbabwean companies are seeking to expand their footprint in regional mining value chains through participation at the 202 mining meek in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
ZimTrade market analyst, Lorraine Muzadzi, said Zimbabwe’s participation reflects growing efforts to position local businesses to benefit from opportunities emerging within Africa’s mining sector.
“DRC mining week provides an important platform for Zimbabwean companies to showcase their capabilities, products and services to a diverse international audience.
"It creates opportunities for local businesses to establish strategic partnerships, secure new export markets and build relationships with key players within the mining industry,” said Muzadzi.
She said the mining sector remains one of the most important drivers of economic activity across the region, making it essential for Zimbabwean firms to actively engage with stakeholders operating in the industry.
“The DRC is one of Africa’s leading mining destinations, and its growing demand for mining inputs, engineering solutions and support services presents significant opportunities for Zimbabwean exporters.
By participating in platforms such as DRC Mining Week, local companies are able to explore these opportunities and position themselves within regional and continental value chains,” she added.
Muzadzi noted that increased participation in regional trade exhibitions aligns with Zimbabwe’s industrialisation agenda and efforts to increase export earnings.
She added that strengthening trade relations with neighbouring countries would contribute to sustainable economic growth and help local firms diversify their export destinations.
“Regional markets remain critical for Zimbabwe’s export growth. Building stronger commercial linkages with mining operators, investors and procurement institutions in the DRC and beyond can contribute significantly to increased trade flows and long-term business development,” said Muzadzi.
DRC mining week is regarded as one of Africa’s premier mining conferences and exhibitions, attracting hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of delegates annually.
The event serves as a platform for networking, investment promotion, technology exchange and discussions on the future of the continent’s mining industry.
