Chiwawa appointed acting Harare town clerk

HARARE, May 11 (NewsDay Live) — Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume has appointed Chamber Secretary Warren Chiwawa as acting town clerk, the local authority announced on Monday.

Chiwawa takes over from Engineer Mabhena Moyo, who had been serving in an acting capacity following the departure of former town clerk Hosea Chipanga.

Chipanga left the post after facing a series of corruption allegations.

“His Worship the Mayor, Councillor Jacob Mafume has, in terms of Section 137(2) of the Urban Councils Act [Chapter 29:15], appointed Chamber Secretary Advocate Warren Sean Chiwawa as the Acting Town Clerk for the City of Harare with effect from today, Monday 11 May 2026, until a substantive Town Clerk is appointed,” the  pity said in a statement.
