No middleman, no hassle: EcoCash lets African creators get paid instantly inside the App

EcoCash Super App

Zimbabwe’s EcoCash has launched a game-changing tool that lets creators, musicians, and small business owners turn online followers into direct income — without ever leaving the app.

EcoCash is now the first mobile payments platform in Africa to allow content creators to receive money directly from fans through the same app they use to browse and share content, the company announced.

The new feature, called Explore, is built into the EcoCash Super App. It lets comedians, musicians, digital educators, influencers, and small business owners post content and collect payments in one place — no separate payment service required.

This move is significant because millions of African creators have long struggled to access the monetisation tools available in wealthier markets, where platforms like Patreon and YouTube’s Partner Programme are common.

“The Explore feature gives creators a powerful and convenient stage to showcase their work while enabling them to monetise their creativity on the go instantly,” an EcoCash spokesperson said.

The app is developed by Sasai Fintech, a division of Cassava Technologies. EcoCash describes it as Africa’s first social payments application, combining transactions, chat, and content discovery in a single ecosystem.

The launch comes weeks after Sasai Fintech announced a partnership with Circle, the world’s leading stablecoin company, which is expected to bring stablecoin-based remittances to EcoCash users across Africa. EcoCash said additional financial services — including those stablecoin features — would be added to the Super App soon.

Explore reflects a wider global trend of embedding payments directly into everyday digital platforms, blurring the line between social media and financial services.
