Rufaro Marketing CEO Ngoni Chimbalu signing his performance contract today at Town House.

Rufaro Marketing, a strategic business unit of the Harare City Council, has appointed its Finance Director, Ngoni Chimbalu, as the new Chief Executive Officer a move stakeholders believe will inject fresh energy into the entity.

The elevation was announced during a performance contract signing ceremony held in the capital, attended by officials from the Office of the President and Cabinet, the Ministry of Local Government, and other key stakeholders.

Alongside Chimbalu’s appointment, Warren Chiwawa returns as Board Chairperson of the entity.

Attendees welcomed the duo as “energetic young blood” needed to drive transformation at the council-owned firm.

Chimbalu has earned praise for strengthening financial accountability at Rufaro Marketing, which has previously been plagued by corruption and abuse of funds.

Acting Harare Mayor George Mjjajati expressed his satisfaction with the appointment.

“This is young blood. Chimbalu is a hands-on man; he has done well at Rufaro Marketing and deserves to be elevated to such a position,” Mjajati said.

“We have Chamber Secretary Warren Chiwawa as Board Chairperson. We admire this team – these are young and energetic persons needed at Rufaro Marketing.”

Acting Finance Director Godfrey Kusangaya, who attended the event, also welcomed Chimbalu’s elevation.

The signing ceremony saw chairpersons and CEOs of other council strategic units commit to performance contracts, signaling a renewed focus on accountability across the board.
