HARARE, Mar. 25 (NewsDay Live) – Harare City Council says progress on its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is advancing, with the recent purchase of 100 state-of-the-art computers to support the rollout.
Ward 18 councillor Rufaro Matsika made the remarks on Tuesday night during a 2026 consultative meeting with the Borrowdale Residents and Ratepayers Association at Borrowdale Country Club in Harare East.
Addressing stakeholders, Matsika outlined developments at Town House and in her ward, saying council was entering 2026 with renewed momentum.
“The City of Harare is moving in a positive direction, with notable progress as we work collectively towards a world-class Ward 18 and city,” she said.
Matsika said council is pushing ahead with digital transformation to improve operations and accountability.
“The City of Harare has procured about 100 computers to support the ERP system. This will strengthen corporate governance and help curb irregularities,” she said.
“The system will also address accounting challenges and significantly improve efficiency in service delivery.”
She urged residents to settle their bills to enable council to deliver quality services.

Matsika also acknowledged ongoing water challenges in the ward, despite efforts to address them.
“Our teams continue to attend to pipe bursts and unblockages, but the water situation remains unsatisfactory,” she said.
She added that major pipe replacement works are underway and are expected to improve supply across the ward.
“We appeal for patience as these works continue. Residents are also urged to use water responsibly,” Matsika said.
