Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo yesterday indicted former police officer Jason Muvhevhi, who is facing a triple homicide charge stemming from incidents in January 2022.

Muvhevhi is expected to appear in the High Court for trial between March 16 and 20.

According to the State, on January 13, 2022, Muvhevhi allegedly attempted to kill Raphael Nyahwema at Mutare Boys High School.

The State further alleges that Muvhevhi later arrived at an apostolic sect gathering at around 2pm, drew a firearm and fatally shot Kanerusine. He then allegedly shot and killed Hove, who had attended the crime scene, before proceeding to Mukamba business centre where he shot Mujanhi and fled.

In a separate matter, 95 individuals arrested during protests called by former Zanu PF central committee member and war veteran Blessed Geza were yesterday remanded in custody to between December 24 and 30 for the start of their trial.

The suspected protesters appeared before magistrate Ruth Moyo facing charges of participating in a gathering with intent to promote public violence, breach of peace or bigotry.

According to the State, the group allegedly gathered at Robert Mugabe Square — commonly known as Freedom Square — intending to march to State House to demand the resignation of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The protest, allegedly led by opposition figures Godfrey Karembera and Geza, was dispersed by police after demonstrators became hostile.
