It was all smiles for 23-year-old Chido Charikosa, an accident victim, when she received a surprise wooden cabin donation on Saturday.

A truck that she was travelling in veered off the road on April 18, 2022, killing three people on the spot. Charikosa, a resident of Kariba’s Nyamhunga high-density suburb, is one of the survivors of the accident that claimed three lives.

The victims were on their way from Kasvisva for  Independence Day  celebrations.

A year after the accident, Charikosa wept in disbelief following a surprise donation of a standard wood cabin by women’s  quota Member of Parliament for Kariba constituency, Ruth Chari.

“I can't believe this, I thought you had forgotten me,” Charikosa wept.

“I thank you for the gesture. Please go ahead and help everyone when resources permit.”

Chari said Chido and her fellow victims were champions in their own right.

“I do appreciate that fellow victims felt it was worthwhile for Chido to receive this donation,” Chari said.

Kariba constituency senator James Sikelela Gumpo also welcomed the donation.
