Lazarus Chitsuro on Wednesday told magistrate Sharon Mashavi that his life has been hell ever since his son Simbarashe returned from South Africa.

A SENIOR citizen based in Harare was early this week granted a protection order against his abusive son.

Lazarus Chitsuro on Wednesday told magistrate Sharon Mashavi that his life has been hell ever since his son Simbarashe returned from South Africa.

“I cannot live with a son who is irresponsible and always gets home drunk late at night when we are all asleep,” he submitted. “I decided to lock him out after several warnings and that is when he started fuming at me, threatening to assault me.”

Chitsuro said he no longer wanted his son to live at his house.

Simbarashe told the court that his father was making the application based on a little misunderstanding that they had.

Mashavira granted Chitsuro his plea and ordered Simbarashe to stop threatening his father. He was also ordered to vacate the family house.

Of late, there has been an increase in cases involving parents dragging their children to court for abusing alcohol, drugs and other illicit substances.
