THE Music Consultancy Society of Zimbabwe (MCSZ) Music Academy is preparing for a landmark celebration as it hosts its 9th graduation ceremony at its Hatfield campus in Harare, bringing together graduates, families, educators, arts practitioners and industry stakeholders to celebrate academic excellence, innovation and the transformative power of arts education.

The graduation is scheduled for July 31, 2026 at the academy’s premises, No 40 Seke Road, where approximately 200 students are expected to graduate after successfully completing programmes in Visual and Performing Arts, Music and Dance, Sign Language and Adjudication.

Speaking to NewsDay Weekender Life & Style, MCSZ Music Academy founder and director Assiel Tavonga Chipadza said the institution continues to produce graduates equipped with practical, creative and professional competencies required in Zimbabwe’s evolving education, arts and creative industries.

“This graduation marks another important milestone in our commitment to developing highly skilled professionals in Visual Arts, Theatre, Music and Dance,” he said.

“Our curriculum has been designed to produce graduates who are relevant in both primary and secondary education while also serving the wider creative sector.

“Schools continue to participate in our quiz competitions, workshops and professional development programmes, demonstrating growing confidence in the quality of our training.”

According to the academy, the graduating class comprises 136 Diploma in Visual and Performing Arts candidates, 25 Advanced Diploma in Music and Dance graduates, 21 Diploma in Sign Language graduates and 18 Diploma in Adjudication graduates, bringing the total number of graduates to 200.

Beyond traditional classroom instruction, MCSZ has continued to embrace online and distance learning, enabling students to acquire practical competencies in contemporary digital education.

Through these flexible learning platforms, students have developed mastery in the responsible application of Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital music production technologies, online collaborative learning tools and modern audio-visual teaching resources.

The academy says these competencies have strengthened graduates’ abilities to compose, arrange, analyse, teach and present creative work while responding effectively to the rapidly changing demands of Zimbabwe’s education and creative industries.

Chipadza said one of the institution’s long-term strategic objectives is to motivate students while nurturing guardianship of internationally recognised standards in arts education and professional practice.

The academy also continues to celebrate Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage through research, innovation and indigenous knowledge systems.

Among its notable achievements are initiatives promoting the development and preservation of traditional musical instruments and cultural expressions, including Chigufendani, Chipamhanzi, mbira and marimba instrument-making traditions, which the institution says reflect its commitment to preserving and modernising Zimbabwe’s artistic identity.

In a recorded announcement, MCSZ administrator Chipo Gwenzi confirmed that blue and gold will be the official dress code for the graduation ceremony.

“MCS Music Academy proudly presents the ninth graduation ceremony, Class of 2026. Join us on July 31, 2026 from 9:30am to 1:00pm at No. 40 Seke Road, Hatfield, Harare, as we celebrate graduates in Music and Dance, Visual and Performing Arts, Sign Language and Adjudication. Dress in blue and gold and be part of this special occasion,” she said.

As preparations gather momentum, MCSZ has extended an open invitation to parents, alumni, educational institutions, arts organisations, corporate partners, development agencies, sponsors and other stakeholders to support the academy’s vision of expanding access to quality arts education.

The institution says strategic partnerships will help strengthen scholarships, digital learning infrastructure, community outreach programmes, cultural preservation initiatives and future innovation, ensuring that more aspiring artists and educators benefit from world-class training, while contributing to Zimbabwe’s cultural and creative economy.
