A Harare based woman has revealed the abuse she suffered at the hands of state security agents as they pursued allies of the late President Robert Mugabe.
Police raided the home of Machapu and her husband Moore Chawatama in the northern suburbs of Harare on Sunday November 2017.
A visibly shaken Machapu narrated her traumatic deal to this reporter. The officers claimed they had a search warrant and a warrant of arrest for her husband Moore Chawatama.
They never produced these documents when Machapu requested to inspect them.
The officers in the company of two men in army uniforms verbally and physically abused her as they sought to extract information about the whereabouts of her husband.
Chawatama is alleged to know the whereabouts of his now exiled employer, former Minister Saviour Kasukuwere.
Machapu was taken into police custody where charges were leveled against her.
Amongst the charges are obstruction of justice, resisting arrest and alleged involvement in treasonous acts.

They further abused and tortured her at Harare Central Police Station. “I can’t imagine what they have done to my husband or what they will do to him,” lamented Machapu.
She claims that her husband left home on Saturday afternoon on a business outing. Unlike him, he had not returned.
Chawatama could not be reached on his cell phone and none of his friends seem to know his whereabouts.
A spokesman from the Law Society of Zimbabwe confirmed this incident.
