In a notice to fans, Doek and Slay management said: “To our Bulawayo queens, we’re truly sorry.

DOEK and Slay has postponed its May 3 event scheduled the ZITF Main Arena, apologising to “Bulawayo queens” citing unavailability of the requested main act, with organisers vowing to return with a stronger line-up after fans demanded “fire”.

In a notice to fans, Doek and Slay management said: “To our Bulawayo queens, we’re truly sorry.

“We’ve made the difficult decision to postpone our event that was scheduled for May 3 at the ZITF Main Arena.

“This hurts us too — you welcomed us with so much love last time and we hate letting you down.”

The organisers noted that this would have been their 10th event in the city: “This is our 10th time in the City of Queens.

“The bar has been set higher. We’ve heard your feedback loud and clear: the line-up needs to be fire and you’re right.”

Explaining the postponement, management said: “Due to unexpected challenges, the main act you requested isn’t available for our proposed date.

“We refuse to give you anything less than the unforgettable experience you deserve. So we’re postponing to secure the line-up you asked for.”

On tickets, Doek and Slay confirmed: “Ticket info: If you’ve already bought advance tickets, please hold on to them.

“Your tickets will remain 100% valid for the new date, even though they say May 3. No need to re-purchase.”

The team added that negotiations are underway.

“We’re in the lab right now negotiating with other artists you suggested.

“As usual, when we restrategise, we go far beyond what you can imagine.

“A new date drops as soon as we lock them in.

“When we come back, we’re bringing heat. The wait will be worth it.”

Closing the notice, management said: “As always, we sincerely appreciate your unfiltered constructive criticism, as this helps us to shape your favourite brand and the end result is a group of women creating a legendary experience.

“With all our love, gratitude and a promise to make it up to you.”
