TEN-YEAR-OLD Zimbabwean pageant star Kaleisha Chiyaka has put the country on the global spotlight after finishing third runner-up at the fourth edition of the Mini Miss Global pageant held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Chiyaka also scooped several special awards at the competition, including Best Interview, Best Personality and Most Friendly, underlining her confidence and charm on the international stage.
The pageant’s grand finale, held on April 9, 2026, in Kuala Lumpur, marked the culmination of a week-long programme featuring rehearsals, cultural exchanges and competitive showcases.
Indonesia emerged as the overall winner, followed by Thailand as first runner-up and the Philippines as second runner-up, with Zimbabwe’s Chiyaka finishing an impressive third runner-up.
The young beauty queen, a Grade Five pupil at Chivaraidze Primary School just outside Harare, received a colourful welcome upon her arrival at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on Sunday afternoon.
Despite her international success, Chiyaka said she remained focused on her education while continuing to refine her pageantry skills for future competitions.
The young model, who is learning Mandarin and French at school, said she prepared thoroughly for the event.
“I practised my catwalks and interviews a lot and was ready for the competition,” she said.

Her participation at the global pageant, which ran from April 5 to 10, 2026, was marked by strong performances in the preliminary rounds, where she excelled in the National Costume, Resort Wear and Talent segments.
Representing Zimbabwe and Africa, Chiyaka impressed judges and audiences alike with her stage presence and cultural storytelling.
Her parents, Faith Tsoro and Brighton Chiyaka, who accompanied her to Malaysia, expressed gratitude to Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Malaysia, Constance Chemwayi, for the hospitality and support they enjoyed during their stay.
They also thanked sponsors and well-wishers who made the trip possible and encouraged other parents to support their children’s talents and ambitions.
The Kids & Teen Global Pageant celebrates culture, creativity and confidence among young contestants from around the world, offering platforms designed to nurture holistic development in children and teenagers.
Industry observers say such competitions can help young participants to develop confidence, communication skills and cross-cultural appreciation when conducted within ethical and child-centred standards.
Chiyaka’s achievement adds to a growing list of young Zimbabweans making their mark internationally in the creative and cultural industries.
