Saxophonist Musekiwa illuminates Regency Hyatt Wedding Fair

American saxophonist Dave Koz has elaborated the “beautiful thing about the saxophone”.

“It can peacefully co-exist with just about anything — whether it’s hip-hop, rap, rock, pop, R&B or jazz, there’s a place for the saxophone in all of those styles,” he said.

Such was the experience when outspoken and gifted saxophonist Dennilson Musekiwa illuminated the Regency Hyatt Wedding Fair at the Classy Zim Wedding stand as he blew fluently soothing and sentimental wedding songs.

It was not Musekiwa alone; a violin duet with piano accompaniment did further uplift through swatches of brassy music in addition to marches that a pianist played at the entry point to the hotel.

“It’s a pleasure to have these guys here with me. It’s an honour to be part of this thing. It’s always nice to play saxophone because you’re making good music for the people,” he said.

“And you're also enjoying it as well, so it's all about making good music for the world. To the lovers as well.”

Violinist Tinotenda Banda, who has been playing the instrument at weddings for a long time, said it brought joy and warmth to see a bride walking down the aisle on the happiest day of their life.

“So it’s just good to be part of someone's best day,” she said.

The Regency Hyatt Wedding Fair on Saturday was a grand celebration of love, beauty, and creativity. It proved to be an awe-inspiring event, drawing a diverse range of participants from across the wedding industry.

Cynthia Jakachira, the visionary behind Events Fusion ZW, expressed excitement about the fair, adding that it was an exceptional platform for event planners to exchange ideas and explore new trends.

She noted the significance of such expos in uniting the wedding industry, saying they provide a stage for emerging trends and new service providers.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us as event planners to showcase our ideas, creativity and innovation. The fair is an opportunity to connect, learn and elevate our craft,” Jakachira said.

Gillian Makuza, the marketing and communications manager at Hyatt Regency, spoke of the hotel’s commitment to redefining the wedding experience in Zimbabwe.

She underscored the importance of collaboration and a strong support system in creating a successful wedding day. For couples, knowing their guest list, preferred themes and colour schemes before consulting an event planner can significantly expedite the planning process.

“We’ve recently remodelled our event spaces and with the Hyatt Regency’s global influence, we aim to bring international flair to Zimbabwe’s wedding scene. We want every couple to feel like their day is special and we have a team ready to turn their dream wedding into reality,” Makuza said.

Carol Matibiri, the founder of Classy Zim Weddings, also emphasised the importance of collaboration in the wedding industry.

Her company is committed to showing international brides what Zimbabwe has to offer and through her partnership with Hyatt Regency, she has been able to foster a space where brides cannot only find their perfect wedding team but can also be part of an unforgettable celebration, she said.

“The Hyatt Regency’s dedication to understanding what brides need has truly impressed me. It’s about the details, the emotions and the experience of the day,” Matibiri said.

Wadzanai Chatikobo, a planner at Fabulous Events Management, spoke about her company’s focus on curating memorable events, be they weddings, corporate gatherings or birthday parties.

“We’re here to showcase our talent and stay current with the latest trends in the event planning industry,” she said.
