THE Beitbridge film expo, which kicked off yesterday and ends tomorrow at Beitbridge Hotel aims to equip filmmakers while striving to end gender-based violence and child abuse, organisers of the event have said.
Project manager Progress Moyo told NewsDay Life & Style that the film expo aims to offer space to filmmakers to screen their productions and to equip aspiring and established filmmakers with relevant skills to come up with world class productions competitive on the international market.
“The expo’s main objective and purpose is to encourage communities to eradicate social ills such as gender-based violence and child abuse. It will also provide a platform for filmmakers and other creatives to showcase their productions, market their works and learn other aspects of the industry. Through workshops, interacting and networking with other creatives, filmmakers will build relationships for future collaborations,” Moyo said.
She added that the event will also be graced by Cossam Zulu, cultural officer in the Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture ministry who is the guest of honour, Babongile Gora from Safe Haven and Mr Vela from the National Arts Council.
The film expo will be screening films such as The Bridge by Donzvo Entertainment, My maid my best friend and Sometimes in Life by Classic Movies, The Eye by DownRains and The Blink by Vicqua Films.
