ORGANISERS of the Zimbabwe Spelling Bee Competition will host the Harare Region Zone 3’s contest on Thursday and Friday at Wise Owl Primary School in Westgate.

Zimbabwe Spelling Bee is a premier educational initiative aimed at promoting literacy, language proficiency, and academic excellence among Zimbabwean learners.

In a statement, Zimbabwe Spelling Bee director James Bayanai said the competition will feature over 400 spelling geniuses from different prestigious schools across Harare.

“The Harare Region Zone 3 Competition promises to be a riveting display of academic excellence, as participants demonstrate their mastery of language and spelling. With an estimated 10 000 students participating in this year’s competition, the event is a testament to the commitment to academic enrichment and intellectual development,” Bayanai said.

“Regional competitions are an integral part of the Zimbabwe Spelling Bee, with each province hosting up to three competitions to identify the top spellers. The winners of these regional competitions will advance to the national finals, where they will compete for the chance to represent Zimbabwe at the prestigious Africa Spelling Bee Competitions in Abuja, Nigeria, in December 2024.”
