AMAKHOSI Theatre will host a number of talented reggae musicians and poets today as part of commemorations of the life of reggae music legend Bob Marley, running under the theme “One Love”.

This day is commemorated worldwide and this year it will be exactly 32 years after the death of the reggae icon who died on May 11, 1981.
Born Robert Nester Marley, the iconic star, transformed the world with his revolutionary songs that inspired many people and societies especially those grappling with colonisation, slavery and injustice.
Marley is celebrated for his hit songs such as Redemption Song; I shot the sheriff, Buffalo soldier, One Love and many more.
The reggae icon’s visit to Zimbabwe was in 1980 for the first Independence celebrations where he performed a song titled Zimbabwe.
Local reggae artistes like Gabs Fire, I-Root, Jah Sent will grace the stage on the day and poets like Roxy, Mazila Nkata will also perform.
The event, scheduled to start in the morning and end in the evening, will also host a workshop for upcoming poets.

Event organiser Mlamuli Moyo said he was happy and couldn’t wait for the show.
“I am happy about the commemorations and doing this for reggae and poetry, we promise all reggae fans a blast,” he said.
