TRIANGLE could find themselves entangled in a relegation scramble after they were held by relegated Border Strikers away at Dulivhadzimu Stadium yesterday.

Triangle needed to beat Border Strikers yesterday to spare themselves the relegation headache, but missed numerous chances that could come back to haunt them.

Triangle coach, David Mandigora said Border Strikers made it difficult for them. “We wanted to win but they made it hard. We should have used our chances,” he said. “But we are now looking ahead to our next game with Dynamos.”

Border Strikers coach, Luke Masomere also blamed his side for failing to utilise the chances that came their way.

This comes after Zifa reportedly reversed its decision to demote just two teams from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League and reverted to the initial four.

The decision was reportedly taken at the association’s annual meeting in the capital on Saturday.

Zifa communications manager, Xolisani Gwesela said the position on the matter would be announced in due course, but sources, who attended the indaba, said the decision was ratified.

Four teams will now be relegated and the same number automatically promoted from the four Division One leagues. Initially, Zifa had said two teams would be relegated and two promoted from the four divisions after a playoff. The decision could be a worry to most teams in the bottom half.

Mutare City on 25 points, Tsholotsho (26 points), Chapungu (31 points) and already relegated Border Strikers are the teams occupying the bottom four places.

But the teams in the bottom side of the log are quite congested, with Hwange in 10th position just four points ahead of the team occupying the new relegation spot.

Triangle and Hwange on 11th and 12th position respectively, have 35 points, with two matches to play.
